Unit Description:

The Special Products Unit (SPU) provides customer solutions for risks that may not be covered by the Atradius traditional product suite. These solutions include, but are not limited to; Single Buyer cover (including up to 5 buyers); Multi Buyer Excess of Loss Non-Cancelable cover (outside the US); Structured Trade Credit & Political Risk Cover for banks and corporations. The Americas operation of SPU is responsible for managing SPU business in North and South America (currently active in: US, Canada, Mexico, & Brazil).

Job Description:

The SPU Underwriter is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of specialized trade credit and political risk insurance policies while ensuring optimal balance between premium growth and risk management. The job offers an exceptional and exciting opportunity for exposure to a wide range of interesting products in an expanding market space. The candidate may be eligible for appointment as Senior Underwriter (SP01B3) based on prior experience and demonstrated capability.

Job Duties & Requirements:

  •  2-3 years minimum experience as a Commercial Underwriter, Account Manager or Risk Underwriter
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis
  • Analytical orientation to underwrite country & industry risk
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills (fluency in English)
  • Strong business development skills including; marketing of the Special Products Unit’s offerings and negotiating
  • Proposals with distribution partners, banks and corporations
  • Servicing customer portfolio focusing on retention and profitable growth
  • Technical orientation with respect to administrative tasks, internal reporting, adherence to governance and use of
  • Atradius risk and policy systems
  • Capacity to critically review various insurance contracts & finance agreements and create bespoke solutions for clients
  • Willingness to travel, on occasion, domestically and internationally in support of customer service, business
  • Development and internal collaboration
  • Second language skills preferred; specifically Portuguese or Spanish
