The September 2018 edition of the Economic Update, presenting the current economic environment across the globe by Atradius Economic Research.

  • Global – Despite rising protectionism, global GDP is still expected to expand at a healthy rate of 3.1% in 2018.

  • Eurozone – GDP growth has eased from high levels recorded in H2 of 2017, and is likely to remain stable going forward.

  • Advanced Markets – The 2018 outlook for the US is strong, but downside risks are increasing as momentum eases going into 2019. The UK outlook is stable but vulnerable to Brexit developments.

  • Emerging Markets – Despite a currency sell-off in some emerging markets, the economies are expected to uphold their growth momentum as global demand remains solid.

  • Credit and Insolvencies – Supported by higher GDP growth worldwide the insolvency outlook for advanced and emerging economies is benign. Credit conditions remain favourable, but tightening is on the horizon.
