The May 2018 edition of the Economic Update, presenting the current economic environment across the globe by Atradius Economic Research.

  • Global – Against the backdrop of a looming trade war, global GDP growth is still strengthening. We expect global output to expand 3.2% in 2018.

  • Eurozone – Sentiment indicators have edged slightly lower in recent months, suggesting the growth cycle could be nearing its peak.

  • Advanced Markets – The 2018 outlook for the US has strengthened, but downside risks from trade policy have increased. The UK outlook is stable, but disappointing Q1 figures point to a loss of momentum.

  • Emerging Markets – Emerging markets are forecast to see another strong year of growth, but risks to outlook are increasing.

  • Credit and Insolvencies – Global credit conditions continue to improve. Supported by higher world GDP growth, the insolvency outlook for advanced and emerging economies is benign.
